A personnel platform and suspension system is referred to as a manbasket because this term specifically describes a device that allows workers to be safely transported in a suspended position, typically for tasks performed at elevation. Manbaskets are designed with safety features and are attached to lifting equipment, such as cranes or hoists, providing a secure platform for personnel to work from.

The term "workbox" could imply a similar concept but isn't a widely recognized term in the context of suspended personnel platforms. "Scaffold" refers to a temporary structure used to support a work crew and materials during the construction or repair of buildings and does not typically refer to suspended systems. A "suspension device" is a broader term that could refer to any device that suspends something, not specifically a platform designed for personnel. This makes "manbasket" the more precise term for the personnel platform in this context.
